I’m cooking at Chez Melange restaurant in Redondo Beach

Baking Sugar Cookies for Target

I spent all weekend baking my “Sensational Sugar Cookies” and “Hard Cookie Icing”… it was so much fun!
For Valentine’s Day, Target will be posting my recipe and a Q/A with me on their online magazine, A Bullseye View.  Target sent me a bunch of free bakeware to help me with my baking, I love that store!!

Cooking with Fabio!

Here I am cooking with Fabio Viviani for a segment of his Life After Top Chef series. I think it aired last night…we filmed it last February… my hair was still short, I was just about 5 or 6 months out from my transplant recovery.
Boy, I am way more back to my old self now! I love Fabio… he has been such a good friend and so supportive of me and my family. I met Fabio four years ago, he introduced me to my book agent (who was his book agent!) That was a really big help! It’s been quite a year… looking forward to what life has in store for 2013!

“Twist it Up” won at the Gourmand World Cookbook awards!

I was notified last week that my book, “Twist it Up” had won for best fundraising, charitable cookbook in the US. This competition has many categories in which 102 countries participate and thousands of books compete. Some of the best chefs in the world go to these awards and do demonstrations, it takes place in France and lasts 4 days. Here’s what they sent me… I feel so honored!!!!!

Happy Holidays!

Here it is Christmas time already…I’ve had such a busy month!
On November 9th I made my Turkey Meatballs on the 5pm Fox 11 News with Jeff Michaels and Laura Diaz

That was tons of fun! After the segment the crew wolfed my meatballs down and my pasta too! I think they were surprised with how good everything was. “It’s all in my cookbook”, I told them!

Then, the next week, on November 14th, I did a Books and Authors charity event for the Palos Verdes Women’s Club. Marcia Clark, the prosecuting attorney for the OJ Simpson trial was one of the authors there too. There were 6 authors with 250 people attending. Each author spoke about themselves and their book. I’m getting used to speaking in front
of large groups of people now… I had a few butterflies but got over it pretty quick.
Then… just last week I signed books at the Barnes and Noble Book Fair to help raise money for Richardson Middle School where I attend. It was fun seeing a lot of my classmates come out.

This time of year is one of my most favorite of all. I’m going out Christmas Caroling tonight with some neighbors on my street. To keep me warm I’m bringing along a nice big mug of hot cocoa! I don’t have a very good voice but I don’t think anyone will notice (or care)!
Can’t wait for winter break from school so I can do some holiday cooking and baking! I’m looking forward to sharing some of my dishes with everyone!!
